"The Splendor of Nature"
In memory of the greatest teacher, Professor Silp Bhirasri
An annual painting exhibition in honor to the birth-month of Corrado Ferosi (Professor Silp Bhirasri), by
Charoon Boonsuan
Some 50-year ago, Charoon Boonsuan was one of Thailand fine art students, who were among privilege eight acquainted, being groomed by Professor Silp Bhirasri.
Charoon has a special passion and being fascinated by the powerful color of flowers in particular that of orchid, lilly, gladiolus, sunflowers, red ginger, and bougainville
He has illustrated his masterful in painting years after years using cadmium scarlet on vermillion (red on red), amber on yellow ocher, hooker green on evergreen, all these without darkening the tone and hue. Charoon has won number of accolades and awards of the Thailand National Art Exhibitions (1982, 1984, and 1985). His works has been sought-after by avid art collectors domestically and overseas gallery
This year is Charoon first exhibition at Tita Gallery Maerim Chiangmai. The a number of his private collection paintings in 2008/09 and the 35 new paintings of the 2010 series will be available on view during September (open daily time 8 AM - 6 PM)

dusitD2 chiang mai in collaboration with the “200 club” delightfully present “Elephants & Elegance”, a charity afternoon cocktail fashion show, to raise funds for the new elephant clinic in Maetaman Valley.
The dazzling fashion show will feature the unique designs for which all fabrics and accessories are beautifully painted by some talented elephants of Maetang Elephant Park. Proceeds from the show will benefit the elephant clinic that is being built in the Maetaman Valley. Once fully operational, the clinic will give “free” medicare to around 500 elephants residing in the area. The website www.chiangmaielephants.com will continue to follow the progress of this clinic and funds raised in the future.
“Elephants & Elegance” is both a celebration of art and a way of raising money to help this worthy cause, created by 200 club and dusitD2 chiang mai. Other supporters, include The Playhouse, Raffles Institute of Design & Miguel La Salle, Nomad / The House, Studio Naenna, Fashion King and City Life.

This new workshop features plenty of clay play time!
For those who like making things with their hands and making new friends then this is for you! (And your parents if they wish.) Alternatively parents, use your free time to run a few errands or simply relax in the café downstairs. The workshop runs for 1.5 hours in a fun, friendly and safe environment, and is suitable for children strictly above the age of 6. We will begin with some basic instruction on working with clay, then the children can feel free to make whatever their hearts desire - apart from lifesize horses, of course.
All materials and tools are supplied so nothing to remember apart from a cheery smile. Drinking water is also supplied (bringing snacks is suggested).
The workshop is run by Jared Franks an experienced teacher and recent survivor of Nakornpayap International School Summer Program, and more recently the Kite Making Workshop at Sangdee. A special note to parents: it has been my experience as a teacher that kids tend to 'wig out' if they dose up on Coke, Pepsi or high energy foods before a class. I recommend a good snack of fresh fruit before coming to the workshop, and this will provide them with plenty to keep their batteries going :)

Come and embrace your inner artist!
We often have the misconception that we have to be gifted to pursue any artistic path when it really involves seeing in a new way. This workshop is designed for individuals with no or little experience drawing the human figure.
We will discover different ways of drawing a live nude model, either with ink, charcoal or color. We will explore different approaches to the model with very quick poses to longer poses. In a short time you will be trained to really study the nude figure, learn to build a drawing and develop your instinctive abilities for a result you will really enjoy!
You can choose to attend a single session or both. Remember to bring your favorite paper and drawing implements.
Olivier Fauchereau is a French artist living in Chiang Mai.
